I have never loved God.

I have never loved God.
All that is self presses away from God
toward unrestrained self-love
and worldly craving for pleasure.
Every thought of love
for God within me is God Himself.
Yet He gives Himself to me
in each of these thoughts
and warmly thanks me
for my love for Him.
