Once the citizen is gone, I call Jonael’s wife and daughters, who, on seeing the citizen with Me, had withdrawn in fear from the entrance hall back into the house.
At My call they all hurry out, come quickly toward Me with the friendliest, cheerfully devout expressions, and thank Me with tears in their eyes for having restored their innocence, which the wicked man had slandered.
But I lay My hands on their heads, bless them, and tell them to walk at My side throughout the day. They, however, excuse themselves and say, ‘Oh Lord, we are never worthy of such exceedingly great grace! We are already more than blessed to be allowed to follow You as the last of this great multitude!’
But I say, ‘I know your true humility well, and for that very reason I call you to walk in My closest company along the path I shall walk in this region today.’
The daughters thank Me for this highest distinction, scarcely comprehensible to them. But Jonael asks them, saying, ‘My dear daughters, where did you get these glorious clothes, which look truly heavenly and beautiful on you?’
Only now do the daughters notice that they are wearing garments of the finest, most genuine byssus, and that their heads are adorned with the most precious diadems, so that they look like a king’s daughters.
When the seven become aware of this splendor upon them, they are completely overcome! Their hearts begin to blaze with love and admiration, and in the sweetest bewilderment they do not know at all what has happened to them. Only after a while of astonishment do they ask Jonael how it came about, for they know nothing of anyone having brought them such most royally glorious clothes and diadems.
But Jonael, himself wholly enchanted by his daughters’ great gracefulness, says, ‘Thank Him who blessed you! He has given it to you wonderfully!’
Here the children rush toward Me, weeping with love and joy, unable to speak. But the disciples said behind Me, ‘If only such a thing happened in a house! But here in the open street, in the sight of several thousand onlookers, it creates far too much of a stir!’
But I heard clearly that they were speaking in this way, turned around, and said to them, ‘I have been with you for a long time, but you have never yet given My heart such joy as these seven daughters here! I tell you, they are already on the right path and have chosen the best part. If you do not walk this path, you will scarcely find entry into My kingdom! For the children who come to Me in this way will also remain with Me; but those who come only with mere praise and acclaim will have only My reflection, not Me Myself, in their midst.
‘But My true kingdom is only where I Myself am immediately present in all reality! Grasp this too! But the Lord is also fully a Lord over all the world and need not consider what is fitting or unfitting before the foolish world. Have you understood that?’
Peter says, ‘Lord, have patience with our great folly! You know that we have our education not from the heavens but from this world! Everything will surely come right again, for we too love You above all else; otherwise we would not have followed You.’
I say, ‘Then remain in this love, and take your knowledge not from this world, but from Me, from the heavens.’ The disciples are satisfied with this and praise Me in their hearts.
