More about Jakob Lorber
Jakob Lorber (1800–1864) was a musician, teacher and Christian writer born in Styria, then part of the Austrian Empire. He lived mainly in Graz and took a deep interest in the Bible and spiritual life from an early age.
According to his own account, on March 15, 1840, after his morning prayer, he heard an inner call asking him to take up his pen and write. Over the following twenty-four years, he wrote thousands of pages that he said he received inwardly as words of Jesus Christ. This form of inspiration is known as the “Inner Word”.
His writings focus on Jesus Christ and explore his life and teaching, the interpretation of Scripture, creation, human spiritual development and life after death. His best-known works include The Household of God, The Childhood of Jesus and The Great Gospel of John.
