The Law of Cause and Effect

Divine Revelation

Truly, you are My sons and daughters, born in freedom and in the light—you and all human beings and souls; for everything that is, is from Me. And because I am love and freedom, what is from Me can only be love and freedom as well. Therefore I will also lead everything that has left the eternal home—for whatever reason—back to Me again in love and absolute freedom.

How often have you already heard from Me that you are free children of God; and even if now and then you sense a hint of this freedom, none of you can grasp it in its full greatness. But My will is to lead you step by step into your inner freedom. Only out of this freedom can you truly live love. What is unfree and therefore fearful cannot really act out of love, because human ideas, wishes, and intentions flow into the action.

I call you into inner freedom and guide you there while respecting your free will. Yet an aspect comes into play that the great majority of people do not know, or that—if they do know it—they overlook or fail to give its proper significance. And yet it is the pivotal point, the key to understanding what happens in the world and also in every individual personal life.

I am speaking of the law of cause and effect, also called the law of sowing and reaping, which is mentioned in your Bibles but interpreted incorrectly.

This law arose because of the Fall; in the purely spiritual worlds there is no such law, because everything that lives there is exclusively purest love. My law of cause and effect is also purest love. Yet people do not know this because they have been and are being taught wrongly; because institutions do not interpret this law correctly or have removed it entirely from their teachings, and therefore almost all people have the greatest difficulty recognizing in Me—who am love—justice at the same time.

But because I gave My creatures free will and never touch it, I had to find a way to lead My children to recognize their wrong thinking and acting. This takes place primarily through the law of cause and effect, which confronts everyone with what he has done wrongly in the near or distant past, that is, what was directed against the commandment of love. In this way everyone will one day come to his senses, for truly it is not a pleasant state to face the effects of deeds that arose from one’s own selfish will and to feel them in one’s own body or, in the beyond, in the soul-body.

Through self-knowledge one’s view broadens toward what still lies hidden within. Then the human being has the choice either to come to Me in remorse with these insights, or to use them to continue, through self-willed maneuvering, intrigues, and much else, to avoid these effects for the time being. The emphasis is on “for the time being”; and even that does not always succeed.

I am, and this also means that I am without error. Since creation has existed, there has never been anywhere one of the so-called “coincidences,” and this will remain so in the future. But if I make no mistake and you can accept this, then in your thinking you must also be honest and consistent enough to acknowledge that what happens, happens within My will; and if it happens within My will, then it happens out of My love. For My love has one goal: to draw every one of My children back to My heart by having that child freely decide to leave the path of life it has followed until now and in the future walk the path on which it goes directly at My hand.

Because the law of cause and effect is largely unknown in the world, so many people have either lost faith in Me or believe in an abstract way, hoping to find heaven by fulfilling regulations, conducting ceremonies, living in traditions and handed-down customs, and much more.

This, My beloved, is n o t the way that leads to Me; nor does it solve personal problems or those of whole groups or peoples. Only the one who strives to l i v e the law of love for God and neighbor will find Me. He will sense that from the moment he turns to Me, the law of My love serves him. The principle of sowing and reaping is not thereby abolished, but it no longer comes into effect, or no longer to its full extent, because My hand now rests upon My child.

Ignorance of the law of cause and effect has led people to live from day to day without thought, not understanding Me, doubting Me, or rejecting Me. So they look to others for solutions to their problems or even believe they themselves can cope with their difficulties by their own strength, perhaps even by placing one further wrong action on top of an earlier fault in the assumption that one can compensate for the other. An idea could hardly be more mistaken.

I want to give you an image for this. Imagine a large body of water in which infinitely many people are swimming. What the great majority do not know is that in the middle of this body of water there is a whirlpool that will sooner or later pull into the depths those who let themselves drift. Naturally it is easier—or at the moment it appears so—simply to let oneself drift, for then considerably less strength seems necessary than repeatedly striving toward the protecting or rescuing shore where I wait, where I supply you with new strength, where I stand to extend My hand to you, if necessary far out over the water.

Depending on how long, how often, and how far you have let yourselves drift, you have at the same time moved correspondingly far from the shore, and while doing so it seemed to you that swimming was easy; especially since there are many who wave to you and call again and again: “Come along. I see that now and then you make an effort to get back to shore. You’re only wasting strength—just let yourself drift.”

Temptation enters the scene, and whoever does not know about it will succumb to it.

In the struggle darkness wages against light, the issue is exclusively energy. No dark being receives energy of love for conduct contrary to love. But in order to live—if this mere vegetating can even be called “life”—those of My children who left Me and are still fighting against Me also need energy. Where do they obtain their energy? From those who succumb to their whisperings, who believe they can take life easy, who never think of examining or questioning themselves, who are self-righteous, and much more.

With every violation of My law of love, the soul becomes more shadowed or—to stay with the image of the water—comes closer and closer to the pull of the whirlpool. If a soul then goes into the beyond—that is, behind the veils—in a condition in which it is still heavily burdened with soul-guilt, dark figures will take possession of it through the attachments the soul built up during life. And they will rob the soul of energies they, the dark figures, urgently need.

Such a soul often has a very difficult time there. But it is never left alone, not even in its difficult situation. Its guardian angels are near, teachers and helpers who want to move it to reflect on its life and who show it the light waiting at the end of the path. And one day it will decide to take its first steps toward the light. Until that decision, however, it remains captive, bound to the forces that served it during life and that it served.

Countless are the attempts and temptations with which darkness approaches My human children, and I have often told you that it proceeds far more subtly than you can imagine. Did you believe Me? Do you believe Me now? Can you imagine that this has also been so with you, in your life, or perhaps still is?

It is not only the so-called serious transgressions with which the forces of darkness work, for in order to move a person to such things, that person’s soul must already be heavily shadowed. There are other possibilities, and I want to draw your attention to one of them because it applies more or less to every human being.

You know that life is a learning process and that your surroundings—above all your fellow human beings—are the teacher who sets you the tasks. This is good, for you do want to mature, learn, know, recognize what is within you, and then solve these tasks with My help. Without ceasing, life presents to you, according to the law of spiritual attraction, what there is for you to learn or master—something different for each one, because each has a different past and therefore different focal points that need to be resolved and redeemed.

What do those do who want to hold you back and thereby prevent your spiritual development? On the one hand they keep your eyes closed so that you do not recognize your learning task, and on the other they confirm you in the belief that this task either cannot be solved at all, does not need to be worked on, or is not particularly urgent at the moment.

Do you notice the subtlety? For already in the next hour or the next day a new task awaits you; and the tempter approaches you again, confirms you in your behavior, strengthens your ego—and so unfinished tasks pile upon unfinished tasks. The burden on your shoulders, figuratively speaking, becomes ever greater, while the goal of darkness is, if possible, to make you collapse under the load. In this way you are drawn ever closer to the whirlpool without even noticing it.

See, this method is much subtler than trying to seduce you into committing a crime. This method paralyzes you, binds you, and—if in time you do not recognize through the law of cause and effect the indications of your misconduct—makes you incapable of seeing beyond the tasks you have failed to master at all.

My beloved, do not be frightened by the seriousness of My words. I want to help you by letting you look behind the scenes. I want to help you by leading you to recognize what your life looks like. And I offer you the solution to the problem just described: Examine yourselves regularly! Pay attention to what life presents for you to learn! Put nothing off until the next day, the next week! Keep up to date!

I return once more to the image of the body of water. To be up to date means to remain near the shore; certainly you must repeatedly take a few swimming strokes, but you remain near the shore, which gives you security.

If you are no longer up to date, you will—often without noticing it—be drawn into the whirlpool. But if you examine yourselves and come to Me in love with your insights, it is always only a small effort, and often not really an effort at all, because you have become strong and stronger, because your longing repeatedly draws you to Me at the shore, because you feel what it means to live in this protection. This protection is all-embracing.

Whatever images I may use, whether I speak of the pilot, the brother, or the rescuing shore—it is always the same: I want to be the One who guides you, who can guide you because you turn to Me. And if necessary, out of My love, the law of cause and effect will come into force to move you to let yourselves be guided by the one real and true love of creation: by My love as your Father, who at the same time is also Mother and Brother and everything to you.

If you wish, look into your lives; and if you find disorder and want to put it in order with Me, then come. I call you, I call you personally, I entice you: “Come, come. Love is waiting for you, and it will lead you into the freedom that is your own. In this way you too will be able to help your brothers and sisters also reach this freedom.”

I place My hands upon you in blessing. Strength, healing, light, and love flow into your soul and into your human self. Give your longing free rein. Come, My arms are outstretched, and they receive you, My brother, and you, My sister. They are outstretched for all human beings and souls, because I love them all. Amen.
