Pain humbles the soul
- Provenance
- Samuel Surazal
Pain humbles the soul
cruelly and seemingly without mercy.
The love of God
penetrates the soul
tenderly with humility.
Yet in the heart of humility
the soul recognizes pain
as brother to divine love
and seeming mercilessness
as sister to wisdom.
