Divine Revelation
My sons and daughters, there are two aspects I will deepen today. They are not unfamiliar to you, but if with My help you look at them more closely, you will be surprised at what truly lies behind the terms freedom and happiness; and at the simple steps—necessary and entirely possible—that you can take at My hand in order to be able to call both permanently your own.
All beings in the purely spiritual heavens carry absolute freedom within themselves. It is My gift to every single child. It arises from using free will to act and create within the framework of My laws, which have proceeded from My love. My “heavenly” children lack nothing; everything is available to them in overflowing abundance. Upon this, among other things, rests their happiness, which knows neither loss nor deprivation and therefore, as a consequence, neither sadness nor grief.
Fears arising from anticipated or actual loss and deprivation are phenomena found only outside the heavens. They arise when the ego of a soul or a human being believes it can attain bliss and contentment only if the efforts and endeavors pursued until now—often contrary to My law—continue to be practiced, only to have to discover that so-called fate ultimately takes from them what they wanted to hold onto at all costs.
Everything in My creation is life; everything “flows,” as you put it. Never and nowhere has there been or is there a standstill. This continually flowing life guarantees a steady upward development. Every being is affected by it, even though to you it often appears as though things were moving backward or a downward spiral were determining your present existence. Yet these phases of your eternal life too belong to the necessary learning processes without which the goal—perfection in Me—cannot be reached.
The many steps of the spiritual evolution of your being, which is continually taking place, resemble in a certain way the links of a long chain, whose lowest link lies somewhere in the depths of your past while the highest touches the heavens. Between them you are as a human being, here and now. Where you stand today, and what and how you are, is the result of your past. Where you will stand tomorrow, and what and how you will be, arises from your present—more precisely, from what you think, say, and do today.
Everything is in communication with everything else; one thing acts upon another. The forces of light strive to encourage human beings and souls to turn toward what is good and selfless; the dark forces strive to prevent the efforts of the light. You live within this field of tension. Which side will gain the victory, in the short term or over a longer period, is determined by you yourselves through your free will.
“I would like to, but I cannot,” I hear you say. “Free will is all well and good, but it is no use to me if I cannot use it because stronger forces stand against it.”
Many of you know My answer: “How weak or strong you are inwardly is a question of the condition of your soul. And that did not simply arise out of nothing, nor because I created you that way; it is the result of your past, even across many lifetimes. It is your past that has made you what you now are, can do, and actually do. I have never touched your free will. But others, who do not respect your freedom even though they pretend to, have—skillfully and by flattering your ego—tried with more or less success to move you toward actions contrary to the commandment of love. And in the process they bound you.”
Such an honest taking-stock must never lead you to feel small, weak, and unloved; remember the magic word “still.”1) It is sometimes necessary, but it also already contains the solution for the one who wants to free himself from fetters that he allowed to be placed upon him unnoticed and usually unwillingly. Just as sunshine always follows rain again, phases of sadness and resignation are followed again and again by times of new beginnings and purposeful striving, provided this is your desire and you include Me in your process of positive change.
This is certainly My desire; for this I came into the world: to instruct you, to awaken longing and love within you, and, as your Creator, God, and Father, at the same time in Christ to be your brother and friend who accompanies, protects, and strengthens you.

The supposed happiness with which darkness repeatedly tries to seduce you is offered in the most varied forms and with the most dazzling embellishments. The principle has been the same for as long as human beings can remember, and because from its point of view it has proved successful, there is no reason to change it. The methods have been refined, the offers adapted to the possibilities of each period, but the approach has remained the same.
Every being strives to attain and preserve a state of fulfillment. In the heavens this happens by living selfless love, which “automatically” brings with it a fullness and freedom that cannot be described in your words. Fullness and freedom could already have been attained on earth as well—though only to a limited degree because the laws of matter operate here—if My teaching, which I brought as Jesus of Nazareth, had been put into practice and My example followed. This earth could be “a little paradise” in which peace, harmony, and well-being prevail in every area because loving coexistence is practiced.
The opposing forces, however, could not share in this because, on account of their conduct, this power of love is not available to them. They obtain the energy they need exclusively from human beings whom they seduce into actions contrary to My law. There is no other energy for them—apart from the minimum I give them to maintain their existence.
The logic of the heart helps you discover for yourselves the way the theft of energy is initiated and carried out:
The fact that negative forces are extremely real is largely unknown; so is their immediate presence. People do speak of the devil who tempts human beings, but almost no one recognizes this abstract formulation as a permanent threat.
That is the situation. Does it not suggest itself, from within this anonymity that offers excellent protection, to launch attacks of every kind? Can one defend oneself at all against an enemy in whom one does not truly believe, whom one cannot see, and whom one does not know? If you intended evil, such a cloak of invisibility would give you the best conditions for approaching your victims unnoticed, seducing them, binding them, and robbing them of energy.
Do you believe darkness—which is underestimated even by those who know of it—does not make use of such possibilities? What follows from this?
What follows from this for you personally? For that alone is important and decisive.
When people say that evil is advancing everywhere in the world, that demons and their followers are creating chaos and promoting aggression and violence, and that criminal excesses on every level have reached dimensions never known before, this normally has nothing directly to do with you and your family and social surroundings. But does this at the same time mean that darkness does not also seek to obtain energy where it cannot immediately start wars and create large-scale unrest? From the “ordinary man,” from the “ordinary woman,” from all the ignorant, from the many who simply live from day to day, and from all who do not know or do not heed the law of cause and effect?
Use your reason …
If the opposing forces are therefore seeking energy across the board and “around the clock,” does the question not arise for the one who wants to protect himself and become strong: “How do these forces proceed? Where are the weak points—my weak points—that make it possible for them to enter me despite my good will and best intentions?”
A large part of the stolen energy flows to darkness through fear. Creating fear is relatively easy when a person is oriented only toward the world and his feelings of happiness and contentment arise solely from possessing outward values—material as well as non-material. But even those who believe in Me and know Me are not immune from being brought into situations that frighten them. And fear always arises when there is a danger of losing something. Or when this actually happens.
Fear and the feeling of being unhappy often go hand in hand. And they are always the consequence of an actual or merely imagined loss. The happiness you longed for so much and wanted to preserve then recedes far into the distance. Something has been taken from you, you have lost something, or you must do without something—and the happiness of former days turns into misfortune of greater or lesser extent.
When this happens, does the question not arise: What kind of happiness was it in the first place? You no longer have something you regarded as yours, as your possession. What was it truly worth if someone—whoever it may have been—could take it from you?

There is one possibility that, every time you practice it, gradually frees you from your fears of loss. You know it but have rarely paid attention to its deeper meaning. I gave you this wisdom as Jesus of Nazareth when I spoke of your not storing up treasures on earth, where moth and rust can consume them and thieves can steal them. Instead you are to live in such a way that through your conduct you lay up treasures in heaven.
Everything someone can take from you will make you unhappy as long as you have not yet recognized that you make yourselves—at varying degrees—dependent on the person or thing to which you attach your heart. This is how the adversary works: to make you believe that you would be happy if you had this or that. For this he stimulates your desires, strokes your ego, unnoticed increases your dependency—and when for different reasons and in many different ways it is taken from you again, he profits from your fear, anger, and disappointment, perhaps also from your reproaches against Me.
The secret of true happiness therefore does not consist in getting or taking something, but in giving something. Applied to love, this means: loving yourselves brings lasting happiness, not being loved.
This is a learning process that is not entirely easy. But whoever has recognized the truth in it will set about slowly but steadily growing into this selfless form of love. The “reward” comes of itself, for “Whoever serves the law, the law serves him”! And it gives you back many times what you have given—not outwardly, although the law also ensures an appropriate degree of well-being outwardly, but inwardly, where no one can take anything from you.
When you begin to store up treasures in heaven, you preserve them, so to speak, as in a safe that no one can reach and no one can break open. Only the two of us, you and I, have the key, and this key bears the name love.
Everything you create in your world, possess, and want to hold onto will one day pass away. This applies to your life just as it does to your health, beauty, intelligence, to reputation, fame, and honor, to power, talent, and every form of possession. Letting go of it does not mean having to part with it. It means wisely administering the treasures I have allowed to come to you and being willing inwardly and outwardly to release them when the time has come.
In this way no fear will oppress you when you must let something go, and you cannot be seduced into making false decisions from a position of fearful weakness, decisions that might bind you still more firmly to the one who has only one goal: to obtain energy from you.
Thus little by little you become “your own master,” My strong, great, radiant child who acts in personal responsibility, My son, My daughter of divine origin. Negative forces can manipulate you less and less and finally not at all. You have taken the first steps into freedom—into true, inner freedom.

To loosen the fetters of your destiny, you need to turn inward and speak with Me, who live within you. I have revealed how this can happen by describing to you in detail the principle, practice, and effect of inner work.2)
Today I want to draw your attention to another aspect of inner work that is often overlooked but can be of decisive importance for your understanding. It is a matter of taking away the concerns and sometimes fears that the process of your inner transformation—the ennobling of your nature—and the change of your consciousness is very lengthy and difficult; something that not infrequently becomes an obstacle for many people to begin their “work” or continue it energetically.
The steps of self-knowledge, repentance when necessary, the decision to want to change something, and the request to Me to help you are necessary because you have free will, and I do not determine over you or decide over your head. But when you take these steps, you set in motion a mechanism incomparably more complicated than anything ever created by human hands or conceived by the human brain, and yet it works without error. It is a vast spiritual system of gears that includes your past and your future, as well as the souls and people with whom you had contact during the course of your lives and with whom something still remains to be worked through.
My mercy then becomes effective in and upon you, and to a degree that far, far exceeds your imagination. Without My grace the human being would have to make good, down to the last penny, everything negative he brought into the world. Justice would indeed be satisfied in this way, but the burden you would have to bear would be very heavy. It would often rob you of your last strength and the last spark of courage to continue working on your ascent into the light.
Such a merely waiting attitude does not correspond to My love! I am not a God of “an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth,” as people in their ignorance portrayed Me in earlier times; and as many, in the same ignorance, still see Me today.
I am a God of love, and yet not merely a god, but God, because apart from Me there is no power from which everything has proceeded.
My grace is expressed in the words I have so often proclaimed to you: “If you take only one step toward Me, I come many steps toward you.” My love cannot do otherwise, for I long for every single one.
Yes, also for you who read these words with unbelieving astonishment because you have a different image of Me!
I once told you that I am no bookkeeper.3) This means that you do not have to check off all your faults and weaknesses as if on a list in order to bring them to Me one by one so that I transform them. Certainly there are events in your life as well that have left their traces and need to be looked at. Whether there are many or few, you yourselves know when you look at yourselves honestly. But on the basis of such self-examination to go about anxiously and pedantically making a kind of inventory of your faults and weaknesses does not correspond to the spirit and meaning of what I bring close to you about inner work.
If you decide to give Me your yes and therefore your hand, or if you decide to walk the path of love lived out more persistently and purposefully than before, then My grace comes into operation, which means: to the extent you allow it, I take your life into My hand; I then come aboard your ship of life as pilot; I am then the only truly competent One in the cab of your train, even if you do not yet know, or do not know in detail, how the journey will now proceed.
I will make you vigilant so that you recognize in time the temptations that come toward you. Then I help you with your decisions, for with your yes you have activated within you the power that lets you act differently from before.
In this way the landscape of your soul changes. Imagine a map—your soul—with large and small points marked upon it. Now you come to Me and ask Me for help to leave behind in the future what you have recognized, to release bonds, and to reduce fears. I will not only hear your request for support and liberation regarding your concrete concern; I will also make your soul-landscape brighter at the points you have not yet explicitly placed before Me—provided I see in your heart your sincere will to bring about a change of character, step by step away from self-centered humanity and toward selfless love.
And what is the ennobling of your character—which after all represents the sum of your thoughts, words, and actions—other than what I taught people as Jesus through the commandment of love for God and neighbor? In your love your character expresses itself in its most beautiful form.
Thus it becomes brighter and lighter within you; something changes, at first imperceptibly, then perceptibly and visibly to yourselves and those around you. That is My working within you; that is My mercy, which not only removes the recognized, present burden from you but will fundamentally reshape your life toward what is positive, toward happiness and freedom.

If you have already recognized Me as love, then My words about the seductive work of darkness will not frighten you. You will accept them gratefully as necessary information because you now know connections and can arm yourselves. It makes no sense to put your head in the sand, especially when you know the best antidote creation makes available to you: My love in Jesus Christ.
Knowledge of how the opposing forces bind people, drain them of energy, and hinder their soul-development is one side; the possibility of liberation from these fetters is the other, more important side. If you succeed in reacting with calmness and trust in Me to the loss of, or having to do without, a false happiness, you free yourselves from the fears, worries, uncertainties, and doubts that necessarily arose in the past.
What has until now made you unfree to varying degrees falls away from you. Before you then lies the land of freedom of which I have spoken so often and which I would so gladly enter together with you. Freedom means far more than being able to move about unhindered. Nor does freedom mean being able to do whatever one pleases. True freedom expresses itself in being able, without great effort, to leave behind what the human being in the past regarded as necessary, beautiful, and suited to him, even when his conscience had long since taught him better.
On the ground of such freedom there then grows the happiness no one can take from you. Whoever works toward such a state—with a very large gift-share from My side—finds much falling away from him that does not belong to freedom.
Whoever becomes or has become free no longer needs to lie and spin intrigues; jealousy, envy, and much else will no longer torment him; fear will no longer be able to take him in its claws. And what earlier appeared to him as injustice or “unfortunate coincidence” will be recognized as a building stone that I, the great One who sets the switches, inserted into the colorful mosaic of life for the good of the soul and often enough also for the healing of the human being.
Is this not what your soul desires: to be guided safely through the storms of your life by an unshakable force and an unconquerable power? You have within you the force and power your soul longs for—My divine love! Ask it, and the gates into freedom will open.
