Longing Is the Driving Force on Your Path

Divine Revelation

My beloved sons and daughters, in countless revelations I have brought close to you the fact that everything in creation is evolution. Thought through to its conclusion, this means that there is nothing and no one in whom uninterrupted evolution does not take place—not even the human being and the soul dwelling within him. Indeed, precisely for the human being and his soul evolution is decisively important, for his soul has a goal toward which it moves inexorably—whether the human being knows this or not, whether he is consciously on the way toward this goal or denies this goal and does everything in his life to avoid coming any closer to it.

Much is possible for the human being because of his free will, but one thing he will never succeed in doing: circumventing My law, overriding My will. In this context that means: permanently preventing the development of his soul. Such an intention is opposed by My love, which cannot be defeated.

When I speak of everyone being “on the way,” this means that there is no standstill, that development is constantly taking place, and that this path reaches an—at least provisional—end only when I gather My son, My daughter into My arms again, in keeping with the parable of the prodigal son who in the end returned to the Father’s house.

The image of the “path” is appropriate because it symbolizes a distance that must be covered step by step. The path can also be compared to a mountain hike whose goal—the sunlit summit—is for the moment still far away, shrouded in cloud. Or to Jacob’s ladder, which you know, reaching up to heaven and having to be climbed rung by rung. Whatever image you use, the point is always that the human being has arrived at some place, that he already has a larger or smaller portion behind him and a relatively unknown portion still ahead of him. Somewhere between “start and finish” every human being moves, every soul moves.

*

Because I wanted to call free children My own, not slaves or robots, I endowed My creatures with a free will that in the heavens is directed toward one goal: to develop within themselves love in its purest, highest, and most beautiful form, the same love that I too carry within Me and that I am in unconditional and selfless form.

Every angel in the purely spiritual worlds has walked this path of evolution of his own free will, with joy, surrender, and enthusiasm; and in this way his consciousness gradually opened until the heavenly being possessed, and possesses for all eternity, a potential inaccessible to human imagination, but one that—encapsulated in your eternal, indestructible spiritual life, your divine spark—also lies within you.

Through this spark, My life within you, I reach everyone. Through this, My constant presence within you, you are connected with Me forever. Here also lies the key, the understanding of why I can and will bring everyone back; for in everyone the memory of his eternal home is indelibly burned in, and here the longing is anchored that sooner or later becomes so strong that everyone consciously sets out on the way home—a way on which, fundamentally, he has already been from the moment he began his journey into matter. Since his journey resembles a circle, even if not necessarily an evenly rounded one, with the first step he takes outside the heavens he is already moving again toward the starting point and thus toward the goal.

Darkness, which has no interest in My children developing toward the goal of their home, cannot extinguish longing—the driving force—but it can prevent the driving force from receiving the energy the human being needs in order to advance continuously on his path.

In the heavens the development of every being is borne by the desire to mature, to grow, and to learn to help and serve. This proceeds undisturbed because influences from negative forces are absent. It is different in matter. Here the opposing side has devised countless forms of distraction and seduction with which it keeps My human children from hearing My knocking in the depths of their hearts, from hearing My call and sensing My presence. Longing is still present within the human being as My anchor of love, but access to it is blocked by many unimportant and superficial things, pleasures as substitutes for love, material thinking and striving, worries about the future, conflicts in daily life, and much more.

Above all, however, darkness has tried to eliminate the most important element of longing, namely goal-directed joy, by blocking access to My truth. In its place it has put false knowledge into the world, which people in their lack of enlightenment considered, and still consider, true.

Thus there is not only widespread ignorance—ignorance that, with the sincere desire to learn something, could be transformed into knowledge that accords with truth—but false teachings, ideas, opinions, and convictions are present that make it difficult to question and correct a view once acquired. Thus every indoctrination, every form of learning and upbringing that does not serve the growth of the soul, the maturing of character, and the strengthening of what is good and positive—in every field—represents a manipulation of consciousness, whether intended or not.

*

Every human being has reached a very particular point on his path, on his journey back to the Father’s house. It is a position corresponding to him and his present consciousness. It is therefore “right” for him; it is his place, where he stands because of his past, a past that unfolded in this life and in previous lives. This has nothing to do with good or bad. Nor does it matter whether he has traveled only a few hundred yards or can already see the summit in the distance. He stands where he stands.

To acknowledge this without judgment is one of the basic prerequisites for dealing properly with one of the greatest evils of your time: mentally and verbally putting down your neighbor, the negative ranking of him in the eyes of those who consider themselves better, and pride as the breeding ground for such behavior.

The position of which I just spoke also means that at this point on his path the human being possesses certain views and patterns of behavior that were acquired earlier. These include the acquisition of knowledge and half-knowledge, individual opinions, the unexamined adoption of beliefs, blind obedience to rules, submissiveness toward so-called authorities, and much else. All of this shapes the human being from childhood onward, his thinking and his relationship toward others. Since everyone learns, makes his own, and experiences something different in the course of life, there are countless points of view.

Do you know, My son, My daughter, whether your view of things is really the only true one? For the most part you believe what you were taught—first in your younger years and perhaps also later. Now consider, using the logic of your heart: Would you believe something different today if, at a time when you could not yet critically examine things, you had been taught something different? Quite concretely: If, for example, you do not consider reincarnation possible because you believe in one single life, did you arrive at this assumption through your own research and reflection? Or do you believe it because that is what you were told? If you had been taught something different, perhaps in a different religious or cultural environment, what would you then believe?

Have your convictions, then, truly grown from your own “ground of the soul”? Are they the result of your own struggle and striving? If not—then what? On what shaky feet does many a “rock-solid view of things” stand that claims the right to judge other ways of thinking and behaving negatively? A view that, as it were, automatically activates itself as soon as it encounters a different way of feeling and behaving that is foreign to it?

I have used this example merely to make clear how one’s own knowledge—which not infrequently is false and immature—is applied as a standard to the thinking and actions of other people. There are many, many other examples, especially from the realm of daily coexistence. One’s own views and values, often practiced and “refined” over many years, serve many of My children as a measuring stick when it comes to classifying how others dress, eat, spend their leisure time, spend their money, choose their friends, raise their children, and much more. And, of course, what he or she believes or does not believe, puts into practice or leaves undone.

*

When you recognize that every human being walks or stands on his own stretch, his own station of the path, and above all that he cannot be anywhere other than where he presently is, then you have taken a great step. For then you will also have to recognize and acknowledge that this applies to yourselves as well! You too are where, according to your consciousness, it is right for you to be. You cannot occupy any other place: Surely you no longer want to go back when you think of the path already traveled and the attainment of your present, perhaps already sunny place; but neither can you yet go all the way up to the summit because you still have some experiences to gather. You therefore stand somewhere “in the middle”: you see some below you, and when you look upward you see some who are already a few yards ahead of you.

This image applies to everyone!

When you think or speak negatively about your neighbor and thereby devalue him, you are doing nothing other than condemning him because he has not yet arrived at your place, which is so beautiful and has such a wonderful view … Would you not sometimes most like to shake your neighbor so that he comes to his senses and finally moves, or moves faster? Would it be all right with you if those who are already a little ahead of you made disparaging remarks about you simply because you have not yet come as far as they have? Would you like it if a soul more highly developed than yours confronted you with expectations and even demands that, from its perspective, are right and can be fulfilled, but that still overburden you?

If you accept that everyone can behave only in accordance with his consciousness, then a small example will also make clear to you how senseless it is to demand from another something you can already do or believe you can do: In thought, put yourselves—perhaps with a snap of the fingers—for a moment into the person of whom you are just thinking that he is “behaving impossibly.” Snap—and you are in the other person; you are the other person. You have his consciousness; you believe and can do only what he believes and can do. And now—with his possibilities and abilities—act as you wanted the other person to act.

It will not work!

No one has the right to judge another, to put him down, merely because he stands where he stands! He has the free will to be as he is! This word of Mine does not contradict My revelation on “Misunderstood Love of Enemies” 1). There the point was not to close your eyes to what is contrary to the law, but to recognize conduct directed against love and practice loving the one who caused it nevertheless.

Here the issue is the many devaluations you make when something about your neighbor bothers you. They are the “small” thoughts and words, often insignificant in your eyes, that can tell you quite a lot about yourselves if you are willing to look more closely at yourselves. Everything you encounter can be a mirror for you. If you want to come to know yourselves more closely, you can ask yourselves: What is my neighbor mirroring to me? Does his fanaticism, his self-will bother me? Am I disappointed because I expected more? Why is he not allowed to be as he is? Would I most like to change him? Do I truly already have the tolerance I actually desire?

Whoever has already traveled a substantial stretch on his path will no longer condemn his neighbor simply because the other is as he is; because the other claims for himself—consciously or unconsciously—the right to take a break on his journey, move forward only slowly, or perhaps even go back a little. Whoever, out of love for Me and his neighbor, has begun to walk his path in order step by step to become serving love will—to use an image—think ever less often of “forcibly” accelerating the growth of a plant. He recognizes that every phase is important, and that judging whether the time of germination, flowering, ripening, or harvest is the most important is entirely out of place.

Without taking the first step, there can be no second, and without a second no third, and so on. Kindergarten is the preliminary stage to school, and school in turn the prerequisite for later study. If you look at your own life from this standpoint as well, you will find that not a single phase, not a single step, not a single rung, not a single year—indeed not a single moment—was superfluous or mistaken or could have been omitted. You too had and have the freedom, in every moment, to be as you want to be!

*

The plan of the opposing forces to prevent a development in the spirit of love among My children has indeed borne fruit over a very long period, but this is not the same as saying that their undertaking will succeed permanently. Those who help ensure that the seed of darkness will not endure forever are those who not only hear and read My word but put it into practice in their lives. They are those who promised to take an active part in a transformation. They too have gone through the various phases of their evolution as souls and human beings, with all their highs and lows—and still go through them today—but they have found the key with which they can reach the heart of their neighbor. This key is called: being an example!

That heaven does not expect perfection I have brought close to you in many revelations. But one thing is necessary: sincere endeavor. Whoever takes his steps on the way to Me will very soon recognize that slowly but surely he grows from the position of the student into that of the teacher, beginning in those areas where with My help he has already gathered the first good fruits. He then increasingly resembles a physician who can help a patient only when he makes the correct diagnosis and offers the right therapy. And—as I have already told you once—who can look at the sick person without prejudice, even when the clinical picture is repellent or says much that is negative about the patient.

Your guardian angels, incidentally, have already reached this degree of maturity. They love you, they help you, they plan and prepare and work tirelessly. If it were not so, they could not stand selflessly at your side. They know that the sick person needs the physician, and that I, as the good shepherd, search especially intensely and with the greatest intimacy for the sheep that have gone astray and help them.

I value every small step a child takes. I encourage; I give courage. I do not expect a first-grader already to know how to read, write, and do arithmetic. I rejoice that he has decided for school and give all the help he needs.

And if he does not accept the help? None of you believes that I then withdraw sulking or resentful. I do not let such a child out of My sight or out of My heart. I know that the day will come—possibly after bitter experiences and realizations, but even then always borne by My love—when the prodigal son or prodigal daughter decides to return home.

To strive for conduct in this spirit is also on the curriculum for My human children. You will succeed all the sooner the more deeply you can internalize that your neighbor—regardless of how he thinks and acts—stands at his level, on the stretch of his journey that belongs to him. And that your help can consist in living before him how joyful, fulfilled, and free a life can be that is cultivated in loving togetherness between Me, the Father, and you, My children.

My blessing flows to all and strengthens those who decide to set a “Stop” against the powers of darkness and also against their own false inner feelings and thoughts toward their neighbor.

Amen
