Divine Revelation
My beloved sons and daughters, among My human children there is ignorance on an immense scale about what you connect, quite inadequately, with the term “mercy.” It is not decisive for your path to Me whether you call it an entity or a quality, whether you use the word “grace” for it or choose another expression. I am mercy, just as I am everything, because apart from Me there is nothing!
To understand this in its meaning, its depth and greatness—at least approximately, that is, as far as it is possible for you—can not only be decisive for your way home to Me; it is decisive. For knowledge of My mercy and including it in your conduct toward Me changes the not very uplifting image of “I am a poor sinner” that many still have of themselves because of their religious upbringing. If you truly internalize this correction, it will make you appear to yourselves as “stormers of heaven” who, full of courage and trust and with fresh momentum, set about changing their lives.
Nothing in My entire creation is left to chance, because everything is ordered on the foundation of My spiritual-divine laws. Whoever acknowledges this, even though he will hardly be able to recognize the background and details, thereby creates for himself an unshakable foundation for his faith in My infallibly working omnipotence, which does not leave a single event to itself, however tiny it may be. My holy will is the guarantee that what I have created is permanently filled with life by Me, accompanied by Me, loved eternally, and, if it has fallen, led back into unity.
My mercy also belongs to this perfectly functioning clockwork of creation. It does not, as some assume, become effective in one person but not another according to inscrutable rules. If this false assumption were true, arbitrariness would have a place, giving one person what it refuses another. The logic of your heart can help you recognize the error in such a way of looking at things. But if I do not pour out My mercy arbitrarily, then in principle it must apply to everyone, provided the “switches have been set” beforehand through corresponding conduct. This is the necessity provided for by My law. This prerequisite, which some of you will experience as a restriction, is conditioned by the free will given to everyone.
*
You rightly describe your time as fast-moving. But it is not so only outwardly; something has changed in the spiritual realm as well: What in earlier times often remained unrecognized as hidden guilt over longer periods now comes to the surface much more quickly. It is “washed up” by the law of cause and effect; on the one hand so that it may become manifest more quickly as something contrary to the law—your media, for example, can hardly keep up with the corresponding reports—and on the other hand to give those who see clearly the possibility of correcting and making amends, without great loss of time, for what was previously caused in violation of the commandment of love. This applies not only on the large scale but equally on the small, which means: Much is also set in motion in your personal sphere. Sometimes this happens much faster, and seemingly initiated indiscriminately, than you thought possible.
The possibility of recognizing wrong conduct in the past and its consequences, feeling remorse, and, where possible, putting it right is offered to those who see and are willing as a helping hand from heaven, as a chance to free themselves from guilt of the soul of many different kinds. Without My mercy such debt relief, whether partial or complete, would not be possible. If justice alone had the say, you would remain debtors until every last penny of the burden accumulated beforehand had been paid. Only then would your account again be balanced and justice satisfied.
But truly, I tell you: I am not a bookkeeper! I am a God of love, understanding, forgiveness—and mercy. I am a Father who offers His children without restriction every kind of help they need. I do not wait with My offer until the scales of your life have reached balance again. Here and now and always I offer you the possibility of experiencing My mercy; a mercy whose extent lies beyond every human conception; a mercy that represents My affection for My creatures in its most beautiful, sublime, and noble form, as the crowning glory of My divine love that surpasses everything.
To make this clear to you, I will show you the differences between My justice, My love, and My mercy, and in this way answer the questions that many among you have carried in their hearts for a long time.
The fact that I do not punish a transgression, but that in the interest of justice a balancing is required for a wrong committed, leads to the necessary conclusion that there must be an agency that brings about this balancing. This takes place through the law of sowing and reaping, which works flawlessly across all boundaries of space and time. This law and the way it works are indeed unknown to most people—if they know it at all, they know only its name and do not relate it to events in their lives—and therefore it cannot be regarded by them as the directing, balancing, and regulating element. And even where it is known, it is not accepted as an instrument of My love. Yet it is grounded in My love; for if there were no possibility of experiencing in one’s own body and one’s own life the effects of causes one has set, no balancing would be possible either. Without this balancing, the only alternative would be the consequences proclaimed as false teachings by a multitude of faiths: punishment by Me, extending all the way to eternal damnation.
In order to spare My children, if they remain permanently without insight and continually violate the commandment of love, the fate of a just but harsh “settling of accounts” through the law of karma—according to the principle “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth”—My unconditional and selfless love entered and enters the scene. It stands at the side of the one who sees and makes it possible for him, together with Me and in the spirit of love, to “work on” the self-caused effects and in this way soften or dissolve much. This can happen even in advance, before effects occur at all, or it happens during the balancing process, which then means a substantial easing of what fate brings because My child has less to carry and what remains is easier to bear. At the same time it gives the son willing to return home, the daughter ready to return home, the experience of an often boundless relief joined with deep gratitude.
For this I came into the world as Jesus of Nazareth: to teach love, to live it before you, and to place it in your heart in the form of strengthening additional energy. There I am; there I wait for everyone with outstretched hands so that I can be guide, helper, and rescuer to him. All I need is your desire to become free of your old burdens and your intention to live differently in future than before. If self-knowledge, remorse, and decision are brought by you and placed in one scale pan, then in the other I place My divine love as your brother, which weighs far more than what you give Me.
In the course of your often numerous lives, much has accumulated in each of you that burdens your soul. Much has already been worked off, much made good, much entered on the credit side, and much you could record as successful learning; yet again and again the debit side too was burdened, there were setbacks, disappointments, repeated mistakes through old habits, and much else. Thus the present condition of your soul, which also expresses itself more or less clearly outwardly, is a mixture of good and less good, of old but still effective burdens and burdens newly acquired.
Some things that make themselves noticeable as faults and weaknesses you can recognize as such if you look honestly. You succeed in this all the better the greater your willingness for insight, and often also because and when unpleasant effects appear in your life. But what about what escapes your reach and understanding because it has lain hidden in your soul—perhaps for quite a long time already? You cannot penetrate into these depths; no other human being can do so either. You yourselves do indeed feed your soul as well; you strengthen or weaken it through corresponding actions and omissions. But a fundamental, effective change that gives your soul a real boost, makes it lighter and brighter within a short time, gives it lift and prepares it for the way home—such an intervention is possible neither through another human being nor through yourselves, that is, through your own effort. Only one power can change something in your soul: the power of Christ, divine love and its crowning glory, mercy.
I said that I am not a bookkeeper. If no detailed accounting is therefore required in order to bring about a profound change, what is required? What is needed in order truly to come close to Me, in order to experience My mercy, which lies beyond every reckoning, however correct and just that reckoning may be?
The solution is as logical as it is simple. Many of you know My word: “Whoever serves the law, the law serves him.” Consequently, the one who serves the law of love is guided by My love. And beyond that he will experience My mercy to the degree that he embeds his sincere endeavor in his surrender to Me.
Surrender to Me, the Creator, whose law is love!
Whether it arises as the consequence of sincere endeavor coming from the heart, or whether, expressed in words or not, it gives voice to the human being’s conscious decision, is not the decisive point. In every case it expresses the desire to become more and more absorbed in Me, which at the same time means placing one’s ego, desires, ideas, and one’s own notions of how life should look more and more in the background. To make such a decision in a quiet hour, a decision that may need to be renewed from time to time, represents something special in a human life. It is a kind of high point; to strive for it presupposes great love and deep trust. But: It is worth it!
Yet there is still another form of surrender that—even for the one who carries it out—is not recognizable as such at first glance: It is remorse born from the recognition of guilt, the knowledge of one’s own failure or the harm one has caused, the deep and painful regret over what has happened, the tearful surrender of all resistance to Me. If this insight is joined with the desire to make good what can be made good, I will not turn away from My child—however great his guilt may be. I am mercy!
You see, then, My beloved sons and daughters, there are many possibilities for coming ever closer to My heart. All of them appeal not only to My love but also to My mercy, upon which everyone depends. For it is not possible for any human being to work through his burdens one after another, point by point. This is impossible for the simple reason that you do not know what you bring from earlier lives into this one, even though it now expresses itself in various ways.
*
Many of My human children see themselves in the role of a wretched sinner who lacks the strength and possibilities to bring about change. They hope for My grace; they seek help in prayer, in fulfilling their religious duties, and in much else. The idea that they could change their situation by doing something themselves, by reconsidering their lives and giving them a new direction, cannot occur to them because they were never taught such a thing. They hear of My love and mercy and hope that I will be gracious to them when their soul enters the beyond at so-called death. I am gracious to them in every case, but My grace could become effective in them to a far greater degree if during their lifetime they had already set some switches.
I therefore want to direct the gaze of all who do not yet recognize themselves as strong and radiant sons and daughters of My love toward the path that makes it possible for them to reach their goal with less effort and sorrow. And to all those who already know Me but have not yet included the greatness of My mercy in the help I give, I want to show a way to approach daily inner work with joy, in the knowledge that nothing is impossible for Me and that My support, My understanding, and My forgiveness extend infinitely far beyond their powers of imagination.
I give you an image:
Consider a situation in which parents call their child to account because it has demonstrably done something wrong. If the deed is at first denied or finally, under the pressure of the evidence, admitted after all, and if the child still lacks insight while remaining defiant, then some kind of corrective measure will follow.
If the child shows regret, perhaps even deep contrition, and is ready to repair the damage, the parents will give it the opportunity to do so. And the matter is settled.
If the child is sincerely sorry for its behavior, and if—because it was a more serious matter—it even comes to deep distress, to crying and tears, and finally to a request for forgiveness, then with parents who love their child mercy enters the picture. It is then quite possible that the damage will not even have to be paid for from the child’s pocket money.
No one can truly believe that My mercy does not exceed that of parents many times over. But what does this fact mean for My children?
If a child shows—and this recognition is not measured by beautifully phrased words—that it seeks a change in its behavior because its previous conduct in some respects did not correspond to My commandment of love, then I will give it the opportunity to practice new behavior. I will give it a new chance—and again and again, if necessary—so that it can practice putting its resolutions into action. Depending on the task, on the mission voluntarily undertaken, I equip My child with special powers and special support. This can happen both before a new incarnation and during a lifetime, provided that within its present life a real transformation takes place through a fundamental decision.
But this also means that I reduce or largely remove old burdens from the past where possible and necessary. No one can master new tasks with the necessary willpower and seriousness if he is still burdened by serious faults and weaknesses from times gone by. I will not send you on the path into freedom and at the same time keep you in fetters!
When I see that a human child, out of love for Me, sincerely strives for a change in his life, I create the conditions so that his endeavor is not, or is not too greatly, impaired in his work of mastering the portion of life still ahead of him with its learning tasks. That means: I clear all or many of the stones he himself placed from his path.
The extent to which this can happen depends on the child’s willingness to change, his good will, and his love for Me. The more intimate the desire, the more intensely My strengthening energy of love can flow. And if—depending on conduct in the past—remorse is necessary, this will have a profound effect on the activity of My mercy.
When I see the turning back that comes from the heart, My mercy is like a great broom that completely or largely frees the landscape of the soul of everyone striving toward Me from what would hinder him on his future path.
No one therefore need be afraid of being forever measured by what he once did as a sinner. For I am not a bookkeeper!
With this knowledge that My mercy can become effective on and within you in accordance with the degree of your surrender, you should consider the following:
The soul is the fountainhead from which you draw your life-force. Everything that befalls you outwardly in the form of indisposition and feeling unwell has its deeper cause within, in your soul. A lack of energy can always be recognized only by its physical and psychological effects. They indicate that an impairment—whatever its kind—exists in the realm of the soul. But this is not meant to pull you down or discourage you, for after all you live in matter and are constantly exposed to many influences. It is intended only to make connections clear to you; for if the reason for an outward disturbance is rooted in the soul, then it is also there that the starting point for a correction is to be sought and found.
But to bring about a change in the soul—and specifically a change that alone promises lasting strengthening or healing—is, as mentioned, possible only for Me. If a deep turning toward Me and conduct that orients itself more and more toward My commandment of love “activate” My mercy and as a result bring about an illumination of your soul and the release of earlier attachments and burdens, then the one true and right way can only be the way of an even more loving, serious, and intimate relationship with Me.
This does not mean turning your back on the world, nor does it mean ceasing to seek help outwardly. But it could mean placing the emphasis of your efforts more strongly on the soul, because the strengthening of your soul is followed—though not always immediately and to the degree you desire—by a harmonization of body and psyche as well. When My mercy then wraps you, many a thing that previously caused you discomfort is forever “out of the world.” Your fountainhead then begins to flow again to the degree I have intended for you.
*
Let My words be comfort and encouragement to you. Draw from them the courage to strive for a new beginning if this should be necessary. When you make such a decision, rejoice in the time ahead of you, which will be our time together. In this way you leave the shadows of the past behind. They become smaller and smaller; confidence and joy of life will be your companions—and of course I, who dwell within you as love, who walk beside you on all your paths. I am the One whom in this hour you have recognized as mercy—which I always was and always will be. Amen
